Hello, it’s lovely to meet you.
I’m Rachel Emily Billings (aka Rebel)
I’m a portrait & documentary photographer based in the leafy burbs of South East London.
I shot my first ever wedding as a fresh faced uni student over ten years ago, it was exciting, slightly terrifying and a huge learning curve. That being said, I didn’t shoot another wedding until early 2022, with more experience and a better understanding of my own style, that’s when I absolutely fell in love with it.
I decided to give wedding photography a proper go in 2023, and so far it has been a total dream.
I shoot both digital & film (analogue)
My photography is rooted in the practices and principles of film photography. I believe that’s why my style is romantic, emotional and cinematic. I approach my subject from a documentary viewpoint, and I endeavour to capture not just your wedding story, but all of the candid tidbits too.
I like to consider these the ‘in between’ moments; the doting looks between the newlywed couple, the endearing cry laughs, you two, your friends and families, your relationships in its most authentic form.
I’ll blend in with your guests, subtly capturing all the intimate instants, the unmissable memories, and the loudest dance moves.
2024 couples, I’m throwing in a complimentary roll of 35mm for every full day wedding booking, as my wedding gift to you!
FAQs
How many hours do you cover?
I’m there from the morning prep (1-2 hours before the ceremony) until just after the first dance, when the party is in full twirl. That’s usually around ten hours.
I’m more than happy to tailor your chosen wedding package to shoot specific hours should you have a preference, and we’ll discuss what time I’m downing tools ahead of your day.
I’m getting married out of the UK, do you travel?
I LOVE to travel. No matter where you’re tying the knot, I’d be delighted to join you there!
What happens if it rains?
I’m British, so mentally I’m anticipating rain 99% of the time. My digital cameras are weather sealed, so no stress there, but it’s always worth having a contingency plan for the worst case scenario: umbrellas are a good start!
Don’t stress about what might be, after all they say rain on the wedding day is good luck, and the weather can make for some gorgeous photos. If you embrace the moment and run into the rain I’ll be right behind you capturing it.
Do you retouch the photos?
I’ll edit each individual photo with minimal adjustments to light, shadows, colours/tones, to achieve my naturalistic style. I admire the truthfulness of a photograph; smile lines, freckled noses kissed by sun, Nana’s lippy smudged on your groomsmen’s cheek. I’ll do everything I can to capture and celebrate those imperfect perfections. However, if there’s anything you’re concerned about, we can discuss ahead of your day and I’ll shoot accordingly.
What equipment do you use?
I shoot digitally with Fujifilm mirrorless cameras, this means they’re super quiet so there’s no clicks or beeps from me.
I also shoot film, both 35mm and 120mm. I offer film as an additional extra to every wedding package. Please ask me about it!
Can we meet before the wedding?
I absolute insist that we do! I love to meet my couples face to face before the wedding, but I know how busy life gets and I’ll take a zoom call over a cuppa too!
I’ll schedule a meeting about one month ahead of your big day just to go over any details.
